M. Samir Qamar, MD – Founder & CEO
A family physician by training, Dr. Samir Qamar began the first medical membership practice in Monterey, California, where he also served as the house doctor for the famed Pebble Beach Resorts. Samir is an expert in the fields of membership practices, VIP medicine, and Direct Primary Care. His pioneering work in launching MedLion, one of the first Direct Primary Care companies in the nation, has been highlighted domestically and internationally as the company continues to thrive successfully without the help of outside investors. In 2014 Samir invented the MedWand, a revolutionary medical system that takes the telemedicine industry to the next level. Samir completed his medical training at Lancaster General Hospital in Pennsylvania, one of the finest family medicine programs in the country. His visions on the future of primary care have been referenced in many national publications, including Wall Street Journal, Fox Business News, Forbes, and Time. He speaks six languages, has studied health care systems all over the world, and makes his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. Samir is an avid motorsport enthusiast, and can be found on or near a racetrack in his spare time.
Robert Rose – President & CTO
Beginning his career in medical equipment manufacturing, Bob later moved on to become Technical Liaison to Japan for Toshiba America. He served as Director of Engineering and Manufacturing for a major vendor of airborne video equipment for several years and in the mid 90’s moved back into consumer electronics, holding Division and Business Unit Leadership positions with Tandy Corp, CompUSA and Systemax as well as Vice President of Global Operations for Wyle Systems. Bob holds Business and Electrical Engineering degrees from the University of Maryland and Capital Institute of Technology. He is an ASQ trained Six Sigma Black Belt and Executive Champion. Bob is also a Commercial Pilot and has served as Hospital and Outreach Coordinator as well as a Command Pilot for Angel Flight West.
Toby Wilson – Chief Software Architect
Toby brings over 24 years of professional and executive experience managing and directing technical operations in Information Technology from large organizations to entrepreneurial start-ups, computer engineering and manufacturing, and consumer electronics industries. He has served as Chief Technology Officer for both public and private companies and understands the current technology direction and technology platform message. He has Implemented best practices in software development, ERP, MRP processes, IS departments, and all phases of operations and finance. Toby attended the Bachelor of Science Engineering Technology Program at Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, GA and continued his education and professional development at Weatherford College in Weatherford, TX studying Business Administration and Total Quality Management, but not before spending 6 years as a technology specialist in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne and jumping out of just about every conceivable type of aircraft.
Terry MacNeish – Chief Design Officer
Terry has a deep background in medical equipment and bio-medical monitoring. As a senior staff member at Masimo he was responsible for the design and development of opto-electric semiconductor components for non-invasive medical sensors. He directed the development process from concept through assembly level performance and manufacturability including the creation of the infrastructure ecosystem to support fabrication of multi-million pieces per year. At Orthodyne Electronics Terry developed 16-axis automated equipment for semiconductor assembly. Working in every area of robotics including mechanical design system control, process engineering and test/measurement he brought a new generation of ground-up machines to market in record time. Terry holds a BSME from Stevens Institute of Technology where he was a Stevens Scholar. He also has two years of formal art training from Occidental College. He has studied Latin, Modern American Literature, and lots of art between his engineering pursuits. He can also skipper an offshore racing sailboat and plays a mean game of street soccer.
Hisana Qamar, MD - Medical Director
Dr. Hisana Qamar is a physician, and one of the co-founders of MedWand Solutions, Inc. She is formally trained in Family Medicine, and has been in private practice and urgent care medicine for over a decade. In Monterey, CA she grew her private practice to one of the largest family medicine practices in the county within a few years. With the help of MedLion, she subsequently converted her practice to the first Direct Primary Care practice in the State of California. Hisana is now charged with Quality Control for MedLion and MedWand physicians. In addition to her administrative roles, Hisana actively maintains her own MedLion practice in Las Vegas, Nevada. When not working, she enjoys interior design and fitness-related activities.
